		HISTORY Wikia. PERSONALITY "The girl's like one of those Russian dolls; you open one version of her, only to find there's another hidden inside her." - Amanda (On Alex). Truer words have perhaps never been said when describing Alexandra Udinov. From the very first time we see Alex, it's apparent that she's more than the wild and uncontrollable girl being carried away by the prison guards. From the moment she sets foot in Division, she's fighting for a way to get out, believable in what we soon discover to be an act, believable because this is Alex at her core; A survivor. It's these moments of seeming rebellion - threatening Jaden with a fork, Amanda with a pair of scissors - that give us our first glimpse of who the real Alex is at this point in her life. She's a person who has worn so many masks and built up so many walls that even she doesn't know who she really is; Alex the Junkie, The Assassin, The Sex Slave, The Double Agent, The Zetrov Heir? Throughout the four seasons of Nikita, we see Alex try on each mask in the pursuit of self discovery. Hardened by the loss of her family at the hands of a Division Alpha Team, Alex's age isn't an accurate reflection of her maturity. Sold to a human traffic ring as a thirteen year old girl, Alex grew up harder and faster than most people could imagine. She distances herself from this time in her life, talking about it almost as if it were another person when it does come up and even suggests on several occasions that it's how you survive it; Bury it deep so that it can't hurt you anymore. No matter how deep she buries it though, it's still there; the butterfly on her back a constant reminder of this. It's a symbol of rebirth for her; "Proof that people can have a second life" but it will take four years for Alex to realize that her second life as it were, could be the very one she was born into, that Alexandra is more than just a cover, more than a legacy that she has been running from even before her father was killed but a person who can do real good in this world just by sharing her story. Alex keeps almost everyone she meets at a distance, as if allowing anyone to get too close would mean her perfectly constructed walls would crack and crumble. It makes it all but impossible for anyone, including herself to know the real her but when she crosses paths with somebody she can relate to (Such as Owen/Sam), a crack will appear and we get just a little insight into her past and who Alex is at her core, the person she is versus the person she's been trying so desperately not to be. Though by Season Four she may well be one of the best that Division ever had to offer, this was not a journey that came easily for Alex. Season One sees not only a loss of innocence for her when she claims (albeit unintentionally) her first victim but it sees Alex confront the past and possible future she's been running from. Alexandra Udinov is more than just the heir to the Zetrov fortune. Her father was a Russian Oligarch, a businessman who amassed his wealth & power with the blood and suffering of others. Even as a child she rebelled against the future her father wanted for her and though she entered Division knowing what they would expect from her, when the time comes for her to take a life, she finds she cannot do it. It was only when she was confronted by the man who had turned her into a sex slave that something locks into place and this is the first time she embraces her past, confronts her future and looks into the eyes of the man she will kill as she shoots him without a shred of remorse; "My name is Alexandra Udinov. Daughter of Nikolai Udinov. And this is your reward." Despite this transition from innocent to killer, Alex continues to truly cares about people, about the cost paid by the innocent and she fights against, and later for Division, not just because she believes in whatever mission she's on, or Nikita, but because she believes in the good that can be done, the lives that can be saved when before she was incapable of doing so. She comes to see her killing not as a loss of who she wants to be, but a strength which is fueled by her emotions; be it revenge or devotion to Nikita. This passion stems from her survivors guilt, something that Amanda was able to manipulate throughout Season Two and Three and the very thing that has greatly shaped Alex into who she is today. She cannot understand why she keeps surviving when her father, the girls in the brothel, Thom and Sean all had to die (or remain in slavery) while she got to carry on. What she learns however, with the help of those who care about her, is that perhaps she survived for a reason, to set right the wrongs done to her and sometimes, even because of her. This is just one of the ways in which she is very much like Nikita; the woman who saved her from the assassination attempt as a child whilst at the same time, was responsible for the death of her father. Because of this, their relationship has gone through many ups and downs, Alex resenting Nikita for her role in her fathers death and more than that, for keeping it from her. Whether it's because of her past, or just how Alex appears to others, many of the people Alex encounters keep things from her in an attempt to protect her, something she is increasingly frustrated with. People seem to forget that Alex is not most people and this becomes a huge point of contention in her relationship with both Sean & Nikita, (even at times, Michael). She doesn't need people to protect her, she can protect herself but she forgets sometimes that she doesn't have to carry that burden on her own. Though hard towards many, there is a more playful side to Alex, one that shows itself in little bouts of teasing and sarcasm, seen more often during her interactions with Owen and Birkhoff. Neither man treats her like she is fragile, nor do they make a big deal of what she has been through. They both seem to accept her exactly as she is, aware of her faults, her past mistakes but not seeming to let them define her. Both have been able to turn the tables on Alex and forced her to question what is really going on in her life, such as Birkhoff talking to her about her relapse in Season Three. The relapse is proof that Alex's addiction to drugs isn't something that will ever go away. Hooked on them by the same men who brought her to America, it has been a constant battle for Alex to stay clean. She never drinks and appears to be very aware of the temptation when sent somewhere that will expose her to it but it's not her mental strength that is Alex's weakness, but her emotional state. Though she tries to tell everyone that it's her desire to fight, to get back in the field that sees her stealing painkillers from Division, in reality it's her break-up with Sean and the inner turmoil that results from it. Drugs, be it the smack she was on before meeting Nikita or the pills she started taking in Season three, numb not the physical pain, but the emotional pain as well and the only way for Alex to truly be clean is for her to come to terms with who she is. RELATIONSHIPS ALEX//NIKITA A bond was forged from the moment that Nikita chose to betray Division for the first time and save Alex rather than carry out her mission. Alex's mere existence presented Nikita with an opportunity to be reborn, the same opportunity that Nikita gave Alex when she hunted her down and rescued her from a crack den. Things haven't always been smooth between them, Nikita trying to protect Alex from the truth becoming the very thing that caused a rift between them in Season Two. No matter how difficult things became, even when they appeared to be on opposing sides, they still continued to protect each other with their lives. Alex says that Nikita has saved her life time and time again but the truth is that they save each other. There is a motherly/sisterly bond that exists between the two that even Amanda's manipulation cannot break. They are so much alike that friction will continue to come up but if Alex believes in anything, it's Nikita and as the series continues, we see Nikita believe in Alex the same way. There is a poetic symmetry that exists at the conclusion of Season Four when Nikita asks Alex to end this the same way that it began; Together. ALEX//SEAN It takes Alex a long time to even be open to the idea of Sean in a romantic context and even after they get together, she rarely allows him to see all of her. While they seem to be working early on, the simple fact that Sean wasn't brought up through Division means that he will never quite be able to understand and accept her the way that Division recruits can. Sean wants to protect Alex, to save her, to keep her from harm. He is the one who teaches her that she has to be more than revenge, that her life matters during a time when that's all she can see. At the same time, he seems to forget all that she has been through in life; he challenges and pushes her at times when he needs to be patient which only sends Alex further away. Sean comes into Alex's life at a time where she is spiraling out of control, fueled only by revenge she had become reckless, blinded by her goal but it's Sean who grounds her, forces her to see that she has more than one reason to live and it's his influence that ultimately sends Alex back to Nikita and eventually, him with her. The tragedy of their relationship is not only Sean's death in Season three, but that he becomes another person to be left behind by Alex. He died never really knowing how important he had become to her. It's his death however that acts as a catalyst for change, that will eventually allow Alex to truly accept who she is. In losing Sean, she doesn't become more closed off to love but learns the importance of being more open and honest with the people in her life that matter because of the many regrets that she carries with her when he dies. ALEX//OWEN On the surface they couldn't appear more different if they tried and yet it's all they have in common that allows Alex to lower her walls around Owen. He knows not to push her, or she him and as a result they can relax in each others presence, Alex opening up about her past more easily with Owen than we ever see her do with Sean. There's safety in the fact that in the beginning, there is no emotional entanglement for Alex to need to keep him at a distance. When Owen becomes 'Sam', Alex is the one person who is able to get through to him, losing Sean the very thing that forces 'Sam' to remember his time as Owen and the loss of Emily. Her belief that his time as Owen has to still mean something to him and her reminding him that he gained more than he lost in those ten years forces Sam to open himself to that part of himself and in turn, his growing feelings for Alex. In many ways, Alex is saving Sam (Owen) the same way that Nikita saved her. She challenges him to be a better version of himself rather than be what he thinks she wants him to be. ALEX//MICHAEL In the beginning, Michael sees so much of Nikita in Alex that whilst - unbeknownst to him - she's working as a double agent, he tries to protect her the same way that he tried to protect Nikita, projecting his feelings onto Alex. He becomes something like a big brother to Alex and is the very first male that Alex allows to get close to her, even of it's a relationship that has been forged behind a web of lies. From the very beginning, even when Alex is a mole inside of Division, Michael is somebody that Alex doesn't want to disappoint. He has her back, even at times, against Nikita and continues to be one of the few people who can, at times, see past her well constructed walls. ALEX//BIRKHOFF Though not as close as some of Alex's other relationships, Alex and Birkhoff have an almost playful, teenager-like friendship with each other. Neither are what you would call natural born killers and though Alex changes after the death of Thom, she struggled with killing the same way that Birkhoff did the first time he took a life. Not living in the constant line of fire grants Birkhoff the ability to come at things from a different angle which has helped Alex to overcome certain things, such as her relapse into drugs. Birkhoff brings out a lighter, almost playful side to Alex like he does with many of the more serious people he is around. ALEX//AMANDA The worst part about Amanda and Alex's relationship, is that as much as Alex may hate her, Amanda has helped her as well. She was something of a mother figure to Alex during her time away from Nikita. A woman who has manipulated Alex for her own gain and yet seems, at least at times, to actually care about her as well. Like many who know Nikita, Amanda sees a lot of her in Alex and that, combined with the puzzle that Alex is to Amanda, holds the interest of the older woman. Amanda educates Alex the same way she does all new recruits; in how to walk, talk, act and dress. She, much like Nikita did, helps to transform Alex from the junkie into the capable woman she is today. Her methods may be crude but with Amanda's help, Alex is able to overcome much of the trauma from her childhood. Their relationship, especially in Season One & Two, is very much symbiotic. They have both used each other to get what they want and need until they each outlive said usefulness. Alex may well hate Amanda but it doesn't alter the fact that Amanda is in part responsible for her transformation. DESCRIPTION » Tattoos A crescent Moon Star behind her right ear. N.B. Even if it's not listed here, I am perfectly fine with your character doing anything that comes with their powers or skills. You never need my permission for your character to act ICly! Whether they want to deduce (Sherlock), profile (Criminal Minds) etc.

Hug/Kiss/Badtouch/Punch/General Fisticuffs and Shenanigans?: Go for it.

Fighting: Feel free to do as you wish in this realm, I only ask that you don't try and over-run me - give me a chance to respond don't just decide you hit my character over the head and she passes out. Chances are - you hit her hard enough, I'll have her pass out myself. You want to go for a bit of non-lethal stabbing, heck I'm ok with that, just keep in mind that she may not look like much but this girl is a trained assassin so, she will fight back and then some.

Maiming: There will be no removal of body parts or internal organs without discussing with me first (unless its a kidney - you may take ONE kidney and no more).

Murder: That depends on the game, because potentially perma-death is no beuno but everywhere else? I'm open to plotting.

Mind-reading?: Sure why not - ya know provided that's something your character can do. Mind-reading in the sense that you're using my characters thoughts to alter the way you respond and I might get a tad Grr Argh.

Rape: With this character? Not a chance. Even if it were an attempt, her response would be to kill the person who tried and even if it's not a perma-death situation? She'll come at them again and again and it would become kind of dull for all concerned.

Threadhopping/Threadjacking: Go for it! More realistic that way anyway. That said - if I don't want it to happen my post will have [Closed] in the title.

Canonpuncture: (Spoilers from beyond her Canon Point). To a degree yes though I take her from almost the very end of the series so there's not much puncturing to be had.

Fourthwalling: Within reason? As Alexandra Udinov, the 'lost heir to Zetrov', Alex is used to people recognizing her.

I'm fine with most things but anything that belongs in a toilet, bestiality (humanoids might be one thing, if it oinks or bleats is a whole other) or incest all fall under the title of no thanks.

That being said it's pretty hard to ever offend me. I'm fine with any sort of language you want to use, but I will tread carefully so as not to cross any of your lines. When in doubt, feel free to shoot me a PM about it if you feel more comfortable.

This character also happens to be straight so the chances of her getting seriously involved with another female are highly, highly unlikely. Sorry, I just don't think it would be very in her to be in a relationship with somebody of the same sex.

Is fade to black OK?: I'm cool with hand-waving if you'd be more comfortable with that. I do prefer not to ONLY because I like to know how my character thought/felt in intimate situations but that's far from a deal-breaker. I'm also fine if you would prefer to RP it off comm. so the whole world doesn't have to read what happens.
